I love the sweet, vintage quality of polkadots…
and how they transform into something a bit more vixen-esque, when paired with a curve-hugging pencil skirt.

I saw this posted on my FB newsfeed and I just had to grab a screencap (and promptly unfriend the *person* responsible). I just couldn’t believe it when I saw it.
I don’t understand this type of girl. As if women don’t experience enough abuse and debasement at the hands of men, society, and our government - not to mention every single form of media constantly telling us, in no uncertain terms, that no matter what we do or how hard we work or what we change about ourselves, we are NEVER GOOD ENOUGH - we have to tear each other down, too? Re-evaluate your life and what it is exactly that makes you feel the need to tear other women down to make yourself feel worthy.

This seems relevant to the recent “skinny girls are a recent depiction of sexy” conversation.

Yup, the idea that our current western standard of beauty has been this innate thing isn’t even true going back a few decades, much less all of human history AND all of the different cultures throughout history (and now).

This ad is awesome, but I still don’t like the idea that the only way we can make this point is by showing yet another woman who had to change her body for the sake of pleasing a man. The only person who gets to define a person’s own beauty is THAT person, be they fat, skinny, tall, short, busty, hippy, or flat-bootied. Every body (and every TYPE of body) is beautiful and no one should feel pressured into changing themselves (Ie; losing weight OR gaining weight) in order to fit into whatever standard of beauty is prevalent that day.
